For many people, having to navigate and negotiate their finances ranks right up there with having to endure a root canal.

For mortgage professional Lisa Gryba, guiding clients to financial health and helping them to sleep better at night is what motivates her every day.

“Helping people gain clarity when it comes to their finances is my passion,” says Gryba, who decided 10 years ago it was time to leave her position at a traditional lending institution and go it on her own.

“I have 24 years of experience in the financial lending industry, and have been brokering for 10 of them,” she says. “Becoming my own boss was a bit of a risk, but it didn’t take long for me to realize it was the absolute right decision for me both professionally and personally.”

As an Accredited Mortgage Professional with VERICO One Link Mortgage & Financial, Gryba works collaboratively with some 58 different lending institutions to find the interest rate and product that is best suited to clients’ needs.

“My goal is to make the process for my clients as painless as possible by going above and beyond for them,” she says.

Gryba laughs when asked how she first realized she had a talent in the financial realm.

“I started budgeting as a child,” says the married mother of 17-year-old twin daughters and a 28-year-old stepson. “I grew up on a farm south of Steinbach and wasn’t one to spend more than I had.”

A member of the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP) and winner of numerous industry awards, she is committed to making purchasing, refinancing or building a home a pleasurable experience, while building a professional relationship.

Sometimes, those relationships are also very personal and meaningful.

“I had one client crying, saying that without me, she would have lost her home,” she says, adding that a big part of her job is to advocate for her clients.

“I only deal with the best of the best when it comes to the lenders we choose to associate with. I will network and work hard to ensure the best interests of my clients are being kept in mind. I will ensure that the lender is a good fit for my clients’ needs and expectations.”

Financial realities have evolved over the years. More people are coming to Gryba because they have been referred to her by satisfied past clients or her professional network. She puts clients’ needs first, whether they are a first-time home buyer, a newcomer to Canada or they just don’t know where to begin with their finances.

“That’s where I come in and take those individual cases and bring clarity and understanding. While keeping their financial goals in mind, I will strategize, educate and execute a financial plan,” she says.
